Intercollegiate Education

The University of Maryland recognizes that its TRIGA Reactor is a unique and rare teaching tool, and welcomes other institutions to arrange for their physics, nuclear engineering, and equivalent classes to operate and perform experiments using the MUTR.  Please contact the Director, Prof. Timothy Koeth for further information.

In the photo on the left, April of 2012, the United States Naval Academy brought one of their nuclear engineering classes to perform reactivity measurements on small cadmium foils.  UMD PhD Student (Naval Academly graduate and current Director of Rhode Island Nuclear Science Center) Dr. Cameron Goodwin monitors as a USNA midshipman compensates for insertion of negative reactivity.
